GV II

Milepost. Mid C19. Cast-iron triangular pillar with flat sloping
top and lettering on two front faces: SHASTON/2 to left face,
SALISBURY/18 to right face and DONHEAD ST MARY on chamfered angle
between. One of a series of cast-iron mileposts on the A30 made by
Cockey, an ironfounder in Frome. Salisbury to Shaftesbury road
turnpiked 1787-88.
