7/71 Stables and carriage house with
former chapel at Donhead Hall


Stable and carriage house block, partly converted to private chapel
and now disused. Mid C18. Dressed limestone, hipped tiled roof.
L-plan. Single storey, 5-bay south front. Four round-arched
windows with keystones and imposts, the two to right lighting
chapel have Y tracery and diamond leading; the right in blocked
doorway, two smaller windows to left are pivot-hung. C19 gabled
loft door left. Right return has planked door in round-arched
opening, flanked by round-arched windows with Y tracery, keystones
and impost band. To rear is carriage house with three elliptical-
headed openings, one round-arched window to left. Interior of
stables retain cast iron and timber stalls and loose boxes. Chapel
on east end of range has boarded ceiling, formerly had panelling
and organ.
