(formerly listed as adjoining the
6.1.66 Boathouse)

GV II

Partly in Tisbury C.P. (q.v.). Tunnel under road through park
to Tisbury. Late C18, probably for William Beckford. Rustic
limestone entrance on east side with three arched openings leading
to domed chamber and then to curving tunnel, all lined with rustic
stone. West entrance is smaller with one square opening leading to
sloping passage and tunnel, one square air vent either side of
road, with iron railings. Part of a garden fantasy together with
the Grottoes and Hermitage (Tisbury CP q.v.).
