9/119 Dene House, with stable
block and walls

Detached house. Early C18, altered early C19. Flemish bond brick
with vitrified headers and dressed limestone basement, and quoins,
C19 Welsh slate hipped roof with gable end brick stacks. Two-
storey and basement, 3-window. Central door with 4 fielded panels
and integral transom light in moulded architrave with flat wooden
hood on brackets, up stone and concrete steps, 16-pane flush sash
either side. Basement has 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned
casement either side of steps. First floor has 3-brick plat band
and three segmental-headed 12-pane sashes in moulded architraves.
Right return has blocked sashes. Rear has 12-pane sashes and two
C19 hipped dormers to roof. Interior not accessible at time of
survey (December 1985). Attached to left return is single storey
former stable range in English bond brick and limestone with tiled
roof, C20 glazed doors and sashes, garage doors to left and
casements to rear. Attached to rear are chalk garden walls with
thatched or pantiled capping, rear wall incorporates a semi-
circular gazebo with tiled roof, probably early C19.
