Rectory, now private house. Early C18, C19 additions. Dressed
limestone, tiled hipped roof with fishscale bands, brick and stone
stacks. L-plan. Two-storey, 3-window north front. Stone
classical porch with engaged Composite columns, round-arched 6-
panelled door in surround with keystone and imposts, pulvinated
frieze, arched lights to sides, 12-pane sash to right, external
lateral stone stack to left. First floor has two 16-pane sashes
and one 6-pane sash, moulded stone eaves cornice. Left return has
blocked doorway. Rear garden front has three 12-pane sashes in
moulded stone architraves with keystones, first floor has three 6-
pane sashes in moulded architraves, moulded stone eaves cornice,
gabled dormer to roof. Wing projecting to left has 12-pane and 6-
pane sashes to right side, gable-end has late C19 two-storey canted
bay with 2-light casements, C20 lean-to extension to left side.
Right return has external stone stack and gabled projection for
stairs with 2-light casement and sash.
Interior has good C18 stairs with three turned balusters per open
string tread, wide, moulded handrail. Large drawing room with 6-
panelled doors in moulded architraves, arched alcoves, window
shutters and reset white marble rococo fireplace surround, shortly
to be moved to Thorne House, Donhead St Andrew (q.v.). Attached
to right return are dressed limestone garden walls with flat coping
swept up to house and with 6-panelled door. Ceased to be the
rectory during 1940s.
