House. Late C18th. Ashlar; slate roof with coped raised verge moulded
cornice. 2 storeys and attic in dormer. 3 windows, glazing bar sashes, and
16-pane sash on ground floor. Modern door under overlight to right. Rubble
boundary wall and rusticated gatepiers. Home of pioneer geologist William
Lonsdale, especially associated with the distinguishing of the Devonian System.
