4/280 Lawn Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse, 1869 for Marquess of Westminster of Fonthill Abbey.
Rock-faced limestone, Welsh slate roof with coped verges and brick
stacks. T-plan. Two-storey, 3-window front. Tudor-arched
planked door with ornamental hinges to right of centre, 2-light
chamfered mullioned casement to right and two 2-light mullioned
casements to left. First floor has two 2-light mullioned
casements with gables to left and one 2-light to cross wing to
right. Left return has Tudor-arched doorway and 3-light mullioned
casement to ground floor with 2-light to first floor. Rear has
external stack and 2-light mullioned casements. Interior not
inspected. Typical example of large estate farmhouses in this
area.
