4/287 Old School House

II

School house, now private detached house. Circa 1846. Limestone
ashlar, fishscale tiled roof with coped verges, brick stack to
rear. Gable end to road. Two-storey, 3-window front facing
school. Gabled porch to right with planked side door, two 3-light
cast-iron latticed casements to left. First floor has three 2-
light cast-iron latticed casements. Single storey wing to right
has single and 2-light cast-iron casements, fishscale tiled roof,
gable end of wing has blocked doorway. Rear is windowless.
Interior not accessible at time of survey (February 1986). The
school at Newtown was opened 1846.
