Lodge to Stourhead House. Circa 1790, for Richard Colt Hoare.
Rubble stone, tiled hipped roof with bands of fishscale tiles,
ashlar stacks with moulded cappings. Single-storey, 3-window front
facing road. Central canted bay with 2-light and single-light
mullioned casements with cusped arched lights, 2-light mullioned
casement with cusped arched lights either side, all with
hoodmoulds. Attached to left and right returns are single-storey
lean-to extensions with planked doors. C20 lean-to addition to
rear. One of several lodges built for Colt Hoare in picturesque
style, possibly by William Reveley who designed the Clock Tower
Lodge, 1797.
