Horse trough. Probably early C19 and for Richard Colt Hoare of
Stourhead House (q.v.). Dressed limestone facade in front of
sluice house, semi-circular-headed recess contains water trough
with recessed moulded panel, lion mask spout over, gabled stone
roof verge with saddleback coping. Shed to rear is rendered on
stone base, tiled roof. The lane was the carriage and bridleway to
Alfred's Tower from Stourhead.
