7/172 West Hill Farmhouse
GV II
Farmhouse. Early C18. Coursed rubble stone, tiled roof with coped
verges and gable end brick stacks. L-plan. Two-storey, 3-window.
Central gabled porch with French windows, 3-light segmental-headed
casement either side. First floor has three 3-light segmental-
headed casements. Attached to left is C20 flat-roofed porch
extension, now main entrance. Rear has brick lean-to extension
with 3-light and 2-light casements, C20 dormer. Rear wing has 2-
light chamfered mullioned casement and 2-light and 3-light leaded
casements to west side. Lean-to extension to east side.
Interior remodelled but retains chamfered beams, window shutters,
4-panelled doors, room to left of entrance has square stone beaded
fireplace surround. This farm was part of the Hoares of Stourhead
West Knoyle estate.
