7/174 The Cottage
GV II
Detached house. Late C17 and C18. Rendered, thatched roof with
gable end brick stacks. Three-cell plan. Two-storey, 4-window.
Four-panelled door in thatched porch to left of centre, 3-light
casement to left and three 3-light casements to right. First floor
has four 3-light casements. Right return has single-light casement
to first floor. Rear has lean-to C19 extensions with tiled roofs,
half-glazed door to outshut, raking dormer with 2-light leaded
casement to left, eyebrow dormer with 3-light casement to right.
Interior not accessible at time of survey (September 1986), but
said to have chamfered beams, open fireplaces with lintels on stone
jambs.
