Experimental smallholder's dwelling, 1919-20, by the Department of
Scientific and Industrial Research for the Board of Agriculture
and Fisheries, architect W.R. Jaggard. Colourwashed rendered cob
on high brick sill walls, Roman tiled roof. Two storeys, 2 bays.
Entrance in single storey wing on south side. Three panelled door.
Timber windows with wide timber lintels and brick chamfered sills.
Partly external stack with tiled shoulders. One of the original
five experimental houses built to achieve economies using local
materials and revived traditional methods. Cob originally exposed,
rendered later.
