GV II
House, now 2 cottages. C15-C16 and mid C17. Timber framed and
rendered, thatched roof. Single storey and attic, possibly
originally lobby entry plan with major parlour and chamber over in
the north bay, No 296. Half-glazed door at north end, and various
timber windows. Large framed gable to chamber with carved ends to
plates, and a carved pendant. Brick stack and l-bay rear
extension. Stable cottage at south end, probably originally a late
medieval 2-bay building at right angles to road, extended to rear
in C17 by a further 2 bays.
Interior of Stable Cottage has central cruck truss with purlins and
wind braces to the rear bay.
