SE 18 NW SPENNITHORNE MAIN STREET
(east side)

GV II

National School. Dated 1833. Coursed rubble, artificial slate roof.
Single storey. 2 bays, plus a third added on the left in matching style and
forming a rear projecting wing. Sandstone ashlar surrounds to openings,
which have pointed arches with small keystones and imposts.
Projecting gabled porch between original 2 bays. Porch doorway has C20
part-glazed door, and above in gable an oval plaque inscribed 'This School
ERECTED A.D. 1833'. C20 casement windows with glazing bars. Left gable
coped and apex surmounted by small bellcote.
