Church. Late C14. Rubble, Welsh slate roof. West tower, nave and chancel
in one, south porch, north heating chamber. 2-storey west tower, quoined,
with single-light, pointed-arch west window under label and, above, a
2-light-belfry opening without mullion, with trefoiled heads to monolithic
lintel; single lancet to south. Gabled porch with shaped kneelers and
ashlar copings, faced with concrete internally. South doorway with
continuous hollow-chamfer, and same to label. Nave and chancel: offset
diagonal buttresses; three 2-light windows with curvilinear tracery, some
recut, the first two with transom, and between first and second a low-side
lancet window; 3 gargoyles; parapet. 3-light east window with curvilinear
tracery and transom; small circular window to roof void; gable finial.
Interior: tower arch of two chamfered orders, the inner on corbels, the
outer with stops, and fragments of earlier carved stones built into jambs.
Corbels for rood beam, with low-side window and trefoil-headed piscina with
broken basin to chapel formerly below rood screen. Chancel: cusped ogee-
headed niches with labels flank east window. Ogee-headed piscina with label
and niches in sides for cruets. 3-seater sedilia with cusped trefoiled
heads and label with heads in centre and flowers at ends, and trefoil-headed
openings piercing the divisions. Nave: font with hexagonal basin, slightly
shafted at three angles, on hexagonal stem and base. Medieval corbel in
north wall inscribed "Tomas Ro". George IV coat of arms. VCH i, p.278.
