SE 19 NE SCOTTON SCOTTON
Manor house. Early - mid C17, with later alterations. Rubble, pantile roof
with course of stone slates at eaves. T-shaped plan, with rear wing: 3
cells, all heated, with lobby entry; 2 storeys, 5 first-floor windows to
south elevation. Boulder plinth. Quoins. Between first and second cells,
board door in quoined, chamfered surround having triangular head with sunk
spandrels. Chamfered mullion windows: 4-light with hood-mould under
relieving arches on ground floor; 3-light on first floor; with small fire-
windows in first bay on ground floor and in second and third bays on first
floor. Kneelers shaped as quarter-rounds. Ashlar coping. Corniced ashlar
stack between first and second cells, double-flued stack at end right.
Rear: wing has single-light chamfered windows on ground floor and in gable;
left return of rear wing has two 2-light chamfered mullion windows on first
floor. Left return of main house: single-light chamfered window in gable.
Right return of main house: one single-light chamfered window on ground
floor; 2 on first floor; one in gable. Interior: on ground floor at right
end, fireplace with quoined, chamfered surround with triangular soffit to
