Market cross. 1820 and 1889. Coursed rubble, stone slabs and ashlar.
Octagonal plan. Base of 5 steps with coursed rubble risers and slab treads.
Coursed rubble obelisk. Approximately two-thirds of way up, ashlar band
with a Maltese cross incised on each side, and "ERECTED" "1820" on 2 sides
facing south-west, and "REST" "ORED" "1889" on 3 sides facing north. The
uppermost quarter of solid ashlar with ball finial and weather-vane, a
replacement of 1889, the earlier top now being incorporated into The Barn
(qv).
