12/22 Flanders Hall

Country house. Dated 1779 with later alterations. Probably for William
Purchas of Burton Hall. Coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, stone slate
roofs. 2 storeys, T-shaped plan, with double-depth plan to service range
forming stem of T. Main range, east front: 5 bays. Raised quoins. Central
part-glazed 4-panel door below overlight in sandstone ashlar architrave with
pulvinated frieze and modillioned pediment. Sash windows in architraves.
At right end, lead rainwater pipe and head with "WP 1779". Lead gutter.
Shaped kneelers, ashlar copings. Corniced ashlar end stacks, that to left
rendered. Rear range, south front: 3 bays. Raised quoins. Central part-
glazed 6-panel door below overlight in architrave with pulvinated frieze and
cornice. Sash windows in architraves. Shaped kneeler, ashlar coping to
left. Corniced ashlar stack to left end; to right, at junction with main
range, corniced ashlar stack with octagonal vermiculated ashlar pots.
