attached outbuildings

2 farm cottages, now farmhouse, and attached outbuildings. Early-mid C18
with later alterations. Rubble, stone slate roofs. 2 storeys, 1:2:1 first-
floor openings, with 2-storey rear outshut to house. Quoins. House, in
centre of range: central part-glazed door in chamfered ashlar surround with
impost blocks, and to its right, a side-sliding sash window with chamfered
lintel, possibly at one time a doorway. To left and right, on each floor a
6-pane window in chamfered surrounds, fixed-lights on ground floor and
sashes on first floor. Ashlar end stacks. To left, outbuilding with ashlar
surrounds with impost blocks to a doorway on each floor, formerly with steps
up to first floor. To right, lower outbuilding, with quoined surround to
doorway and small first-floor window. Slab coping to ends overall. Rear:
outshut: outer bays of chamfered ashlar window surrounds, and in centre 2
round-arched chamfered ashlar landing windows. Left return of outbuilding:
lower roof slope to outbuilding, but of same pitch as existing. Interior:
in ground-floor room to left, C18 ashlar fireplace with corniced mantelshelf
supported on cyma reversa corbels; stop-chamfered beams; behind it the dairy
with stone shelves. 2 stone dogleg staircases.
