Large House with attached service wing. Early C18 and early C19
with later alterations. Rendered coursed rubble with ashlar
dressings. Stone slate hipped roofs with 2 ridge stacks. Raised
quoins. 2 storey plus attics. South east entrance front has off-
centre doorway, with moulded ashlar surround and panel door with
segment headed overlight. Either side 3 plain sashes moulded
ashlar surrounds, that to the left wider and more broadly spaced.
Above 7 plain sashes in similar surrounds, that to the left .
Above 2 gabled dormers each with a 2 light glazing bar casement.
East front has 2 plain sashes to each floor in similar surrounds.
Rear, north front has a central tall, round headed stair window
in moulded ashlar surround with flat hood, to the left 3 plain
sashes to each floor. Attached to west a low 2 storey service
wing, linked by a wing with a single false sash and a segment
headed bellcote. East front has 3 ashlar doorways, that to the
right with a plank door and a large glazing bar overlight to the
left 2 further plank doors with blind segment headed overlights.
Above 3 windows, those to the left with round headed ashlar
surrounds with C20 glazing bar casements. The south front has a
single 2 light chamfered mullion upper window. South front has
a single 2 light chamfered mullion upper window. South west wall
links to the fine spear head railings with 2 sets of double
gates. Interior has fine cantilever stone staircase with an iron
balustrade and mahogany handrail. Minton floor tiles. Main
reception rooms have fine plaster coving and ceiling rosettes.
Most rooms have fine quality contemporary doorcases and doors,
plus window surrounds and shutters. Drawing room has fine marble
fireplace and imported door surround. Dining room has imported
C17 panelling. Living room has large early C18 ashlar fireplace.
Upper rooms largely retain original fireplaces. Back stairs,
single flight and return with stick balusters.
