5/59 Blackwell Bridge


Bridge over River Tees. 1832, widened c1970. By John Green of Newcastle-
on-Tyne. Ashlar sandstone. 3 segmental arches, with paired pointed
voussoirs. Triangular cutwaters with band and rounded tops. Parapet rising
from band, with asymmetrical segmental coping and octagonal terminating
bollards. The former toll-house on the north side has been altered. Partly in Darlington VD.
