19/10 The Lodge
House. 1802. For Joseph Lodge, brewer. Rubble, stone slate roof.
2 storeys, 3 bays, plus two 1-storey bays to right,3 right-hand ground-
floor bays of earlier origin. Quoins. Bays 1-3: in bay 3, part-glazed door
below fanlight with decorative glazing bars in ashlar surround on plinths
with imposts and tripartite keystone; sash windows below deep lintels;
coping to end left; corniced stack at end left, stack at end right. 2 right
bays (formerly outbuilding), now kitchen: 2 round-arched openings, now
partly blocked to form small windows. Included for group value. Hartley M
and Ingilby J, Yorkshire Village (1979), p144.
