Farmhouse now divided into 2. c1793. Probably by John Foss of Richmond.
Coursed sandstone, artificial stone slate roof. U-shaped plan, 2 storeys,
1:2:1 bays. Quoins at ends and to central 2 bays which project slightly.
To right of first bay, door of 2 vertical panels below overlight. Sash
windows with glazing bars, projecting sills and deep lintels. Centre bays
under gable with blind lunette window, painted as if with radial glazing
bars, in ashlar surround. Shaped kneelers and ashlar coping to ends and
central gable. Stacks at ends and corniced stack in centre of ridge of
central gable. Added ranges to left and rear right not of special interest.
House to right has entry in right return of extension. Building date given
in manuscript account of Gilling recorded by John Shaw in 1867.
