ST 75 NE FRESHFORD C.P. STAPLES HILL

5/51 The Hill

G.V. II

House. Early - C19th altered mid - late C19th. Ashlar; hipped slate roofs
behind parapet; moulded cornice. 3 storeys and basement to centre; 2 storey
and basement, slightly recessed wings. 1-3-1 bays. Mid - late C19th large pane
sash windows in plain surrounds. Entrance elevation: centre bay projects as
3 storey porch tower with Tuscan column porch on ground floor and bracketted
oriel window on first floor with canopy; panelled door under decorative
overlight. Band above ground floor. Garden elevation: Mid - late C19th
projecting 1 storey and basement extension with balustraded parapet; rusticated
outer 4 bays and central setback loggia with 4 antae with decorated capitals;
balustraded double flight of step approaches loggia and balustrade continues
along front of loggia.
