of No 1 Hartforth Village

GV II

Gate piers. Early-mid C19. For the Cradock family of Hartforth Hall (qv).
Ashlar sandstone with herringbone tooling and draughted margins. 2 gate
piers, square in plan, with chamfered bases, square abaci, convex caps and
ball finials. Of the same design as the nearby gate piers to south drive of
Hartforth Hall (qv). These gate piers enabled the village of Hartforth to
be separated from its access road from Hartforth Lane.
