2/6 Barn to north-east of
Lowfold Farmhouse


Barn. Early C18. Ashlar, rubblestone, graduated stone slate roof. Central
board door set back behind segmental voussoired arch. To right a board door
with moulded lintel and an outshut. To left return a blocked doorway with
chamfered decorated lintel and square breathers. Shaped kneelers, moulded
stone copings. An early example of a common plan type in Wharfedale, that
is wagon door set back with a hay loft above. The covered area in front of
the doors serves as a cart-shed and there are small rooms to each side.
