Classrooms and hall. c1885. By Austin and Paley. Squared stone, stone dressings,
Westmorland slate roof. Central staircase plan. 2 storeys, 3 bays with projecting
central entrance bay. Round arch to entrance, moulded surround, hood mould and
plank door. 4 ground floor mullioned and transomed windows; dripcourse to 2 left-
hand windows. Tall central staircase window with 3 mullioned lights and 2 transoms,
hoodmould. Stained glass from old school of c1850. Clockface in gable. Left and
right hand dormers have canted bay fronts. Tall left of centre ridge stack. Left-
hand return: two 2-storeys projecting gabled bays linked by 2 storeys 3 bays range,
with 2 tall half-dormers.
