Farmhouse. Dated 1709 with C19 and C20 alterations. Squared rubble, stone
dressings, stone slate roof.
2 storeys, 4 bays. Entrance right of centre has chamfered surround, decorated
lintel dated and inscribed IB. 4 ground floor windows: c1980 2-light double
chamfered mullioned, single-light chamfered fire window with decorated lintel
and 3 light ovolo mullioned window. Dripmould breaks over entrance. 4 upper
floor windows: all formerly 2-light double chamfered but only window above entrance
retains mullion; c1985 casements. Left of centre c1985 ridge stack. Interior:
inglenook fireplace in right-hand room: 15 voussoirs in basket arch supported
on 2 columns, decorated pendant keystone. Round arch entrance to left and right,
both moulded. Early C18 King post roof trusses with tie beams now cut out and
c1985 purlins. Rear outshut for stairs of one build with house.
C19 barn to left is built into the hillside and rises above the house. Decorated
lintel to house is similar to that at Sutcliffe House, Belle Hill, Giggleswick
(q.v.) of 1693.
