10.9.54 Farmhouse.
GV II
Barn and bothy range. C17 with mid-late C18 alterations. Coursed
squared grey gritstone, graduated stone slate roof. 2 storeys to north
end, 2 bays. Quoins. A low C17 cart arch left of centre with chamfered
quoined jambs and well-cut voussoirs. Byre door far right with similar
jambs and chamfered 3-centred-arched lintel. Rectangular window between
the two. First floor: central board loading door; C20 glazed bothy window
to right; blocked small loading door to left, all in plain stone surrounds.
Rear: built into the hill slope, the lower wall is squared stone, rubble
walling above. Right return: external stair to central quoined doorway.
Interior: the bothy has a small plain stone fireplace with lintel cut to
a 3 centred arch. The barn has a queen strut roof truss. Included for
group value.
