House. Early -mid C17. Gritstone rubble, graduated stone slate roof. 2
storeys, 2 x 1 bays. Quoins. Far right: half-glazed 4-panel door, the
upper half boarded up, in chamfered quoined surround with slightly cambered
head under square chamfer. Two 4-light windows, restored C20 to ground
floor, both shuttered over with corrugated iron; a 2- and a 3-light window
to first floor. Corniced end stacks. Rear: 3 small chamfered windows, 2
inserted in C19. Interior not inspected in detail at resurvey, but right
gable end seen to have a heck post inside the entrance, which supports a
cross beam which in turn supports the ends of 2 longitudinal ceiling beams.
A very rare survival of a timber-framed fireplace opening, pre-dating the
large stone-arched fireplaces of the area. An C18 plain fireplace is built
inside this large opening.
