ST 75 NE HINTON CHARTERHOUSE

11/117 The Old School

G.V. II

School, now a house. Dated 1860, by William White. Coursed rubble and freestone
dressings; plain tile roof with coped raised verges. L-plan, in an early Gothic
style, with gabled cross wing at the left. This wing has a 2-light trefoil headed
window with a quatrefoil light above; bellcote projects from apex, and cross
finial. The main part of the school at the right is recessed behind a gabled
porch and a single storey, projecting, gabled wing. 2 stacks, one lateral. 2-
light square headed window at right.
