8/160 The Mount


House. Late C17, remodelled c. 1820-30. Rubble, freestone dressings and
quoins, hipped slate roof behind blocking course and coved and moulded cornice.
Remodelled in a plain Regency Gothic style. Garden (north) Elevation.
3 bays, plus projecting bay at right. Four 2- and 3-light casement windows in
moulded surrounds with mullions, and under dripmoulds on first floor. Tall
and wide 3-light window to left, set in wide 4-centre headed arch with
panelled piers, the lights also have 4-centred heads. 4-light French Window
on ground floor left. West elevation. 3:1:1 bays and 3- and 2-light
casement windows in ovolo moulded surrounds and with mullions, panels over
first floor windows. 2 lateral, panelled stacks at left with cast iron
verandah between. Interior. Doorways and niches in drawing room, with
clustered shafts and 4-centre headed surrounds.
