8/168 Village Fountain, 5 m to
North of The Shop


Village fountain. Mid-late C19. Sandstone and limestone ashlar. In a coarse
neo-Norman style. 3 semi-circular basins: Triangular base supports a cylindrical
shaft which has 3 attached columns, all with moulded caps. Large circular bowl.
Probably erected as a Jubilee Fountain or as a gift to the village from the Gore-
Langton family.
