7/28 The Old Rectory
GV II
Rectory, now dwelling. Early C19 with later additions and alterations
including C20 extension to right of no particular interest. Whitewashed and
rendered brick with plain tile roof. 2 storeys with attic, 3 bays. Central
hallway plan. Central entrance a 6-fielded-panel door under fanlight with
radial glazing bars within doorcase of fluted pilasters, capitals with
garlands and open pediment and under early C20 porch. Ground floor has
tripartite windows, the centres of which are 18-pane sashes. 12-pane sashes
to 1st floor. Ashlar sills throughout. Roof dormers have 4-pane sashes.
Hipped roof. Ridge stacks. Interior: openwell staircase has column-on-vase
balusters, 2 per tread.
