8/113 Stillingfleet House
House. Late C18-early C19. Gault brick with ashlar dressings and red brick
extensions to left and right, the latter of no particular interest, with
Welsh slate and corrugated asbestos roofs. 2 storeys, 3 bays with recessed
single storey, 2 bay wing to right. Central staircase plan. Garden front.
Plinth. 3 steps to 6-fielded-panel door beneath fanlight with glazing bars
in Doric doorcase with pilasters supporting inner arch with fluted
keystone and columns supporting open segmental pediment. 16 and 12-pane
sashes except to outshut to left which has casements, all under wedge
lintels with fluted keystones. First floor band to central 3 bays. Oculus
in tympanum has 4 keystones. Dentil pediment with moulding missing to
cornice. Hipped roof. Front and side stacks. Rear. Staircase window a
16-pane sash with radial glazing to the head. Interior. Openwell staircase
with turned balusters and wreathed handrail. Ground floor room to right has
double dentil cornice,. Those to left and right have moulded alcoves.
Marble fireplaces. Reputed to have been built for a daughter of the owner
of Moreby Hall.
