Holmes House
II *
House. Early C17 with later additions and alterations including late C20
range to rear of no special interest. Colourwashed brick with pantile roof.
2 storeys, 5 bays. 2-course band. Entrance in 2-storey porch a C20 glazed
door beneath round arch with imposts and flanked by engaged columns
supporting moulded pediment. Within a 6-fielded plank door under round
arch. To 1st floor: 2-light mullion window under pediment. Round openings
to sides in cogged surrounds. Otherwise 3-light mullion and transom
windows, those to ground floor have triangular pediments to outer bays and
segmental to inner. Diamond stacks to right end. Right gable is
curvilinear and has moulded gable band. Band to left gable. Interior has
chamfered beams.
