Coach houses, stables and brewery. 1844-7 with later additions of no
special interest. Orange-red brick in English bond with ashlar dressings
and grey slate roof. Jacobethan style. Quadrangular with central coach
house with range of stables to each end, the 4th side occupied by brewery
and gabled archway. Entrance through Tudor arch with chamfered jambs and
double-chamfered head under hoodmould. Double plank doors with ornamental
hinges. Buttresses with off-sets to either side. Stables (alike): 2
storeys, 5 bays. Two stable entrances to each side are plank doors with
multi-paned overlights. Further narrower entrance to right range.
otherwise multi-paned casement windows, one covered by later range to right
side. First floor has openings, some glazed, some with plank infil, the
centre of each a former pitching door projecting into decorative gable. All
openings under flat arches of gauged brick. Coach houses: single storey, 7
bays. 5 pairs of double plank doors, otherwise plank and part-glazed doors
and casement windows. Square tower rises from roof to left with ashlar
quoins to sides. Fourth side occupied by brewery: square on plan, 2
storeys, single bay. Entrance to side through pointed plank doorway. 3-
light mullion and transom window within double-chamfered surround and with
quoined jambs and under hoodmould. Modillion eaves cornice. Tent roof.
Brewery adjoins Thicket Priory (qv).
