Water tower. c1840. By Decimus Burton for second Lord Howden. Tooled
magnesian limestone with lead roof. Square on plan tapering to octagonal
top. Egyptian style. 4 stages. Stepped plinth. Side entrance an 8-
fielded-panel tapered door with remains of decorative ironwork to top 2
panels. Pedimented ashlar door-case, lintel with mask. Other faces have
window openings with moulded sills within similar surrounds without masks.
First stage moulded band. Sill band. 10-pane casements to each face.
Moulded second stage band. Round-arched window opening with moulded sill.
Oculus above. Modillion cornice. Octagonal cupola with modillion cornice.
Conical roof. Interior has spiral staircase.
