TA 09 SW BURNISTON HIGH STREET
5/6 No 38 (Rose Cottage)
House. Late C18 with C19 alterations. Coursed squared sandstone.
Pantile roof. Brick stacks. 3-cell hearth-passage plan. 2-storey,
2-window high end, with single storey low end to left containing hearth
passage entrance. Boarded door with glazed panel under gabled timber
porch on lattice supports. Two 3-light horizontal sliding sashes to
ground floor right, 2-light horizontal sliding sashes above, all with
glazing bars. Small, later casement to left. Coped gables and kneelers
to steeply-pitched roof. Brick end stacks to high end, later inserted
brick stack to low end. Interior: the original plan is intact,
retaining timber partitions. Low end kitchen has C19 oven and cooking
