1/5 Hunstrete House, flank wall and west
wing (formerly listed as Hunstete
1.2.54 House)


House, flanking wall and west wing. Ashlar, rubble, slate hipped roofs.
U-plan. Entrance front has 2 storeys, 7 windows all sashes, the much taller
ground floor ones are cut through the cill band, off-centre right is a reset mid-
C18 doorcase, curved pediment with coat of arms and swags, pilasters, moulded
round arch, above is a plat band and plain parapet; at left garden elevation has
2 storeys, 9 windows, sashes, first 3 are as main front then parapet sweeps down
(for a while there are 2 plat bands), ground floor has cill band. A circa 2m.
high rubble wall connects main block to hipped west wing, adjacent main elevation
this has 2 storeys, 2 windows, sashes on cill band below, 6-pane sashes above,
plat band, parapet, return elevation has 6 windows now altered to paired sashes.
Within courtyard made by C20 low wing, main block shows large stairhead tri-
partite window, remainder much altered.
