ST 66 SW MARKSBURY C.P. HUNSTRETE

1/6 Icehouse about 120 metres north of
Hunstrete House

G.V. II

Ice house. Mid C19. Rubble, brick, pantile roof. A pointed vault, oblong
plan, brick-lined room about 4m. by 3m. by 5m. high, to the north a 10m. long
tunnel about 1.5m. wide, rubble walled with flagstone ceiling, there is a plain
square opening high in the gable end of the vaulted main room which lets into a small.
gabled shed with a plain door; all this structure except the shed is covered by
a large mound of insulating earth.
