Carr Hill Farmhouse

House. Late C17 - early C18; extended and altered in late C18; further
alteration and extension in C19 and C20. Dressed and herringbone-tooled
sandstone with part slate and part concrete pantile roof; rebuilt brick
stacks. 2-storey, 3-window front with 2-storey, 1-window extension at
left. Projecting gabled porch contains chamfered doorway with 4-centred
arch and replacement door. Right of door, 1-light staircase window in
chamfered surround: similar 1-light firewindow at right end. Over door
2-light large-pane window with one sash. Remaining main front windows are
tripartite, with centre sashes and inserted stone sills. Ground floor
left and first floor windows have keyed long lintels. Coped gables and
shaped kneelers. Roof lights and end stacks. Openings in extension are
altered, with C20 fenestration. Coped gable, shaped kneeler and stack at
left end. Rear: 2-light mullioned window on ground floor. 4-pane first
floor window beneath keyed flat arch on square Doric columns and with
bracketed sill. Left return: C20 attic casement in chamfered herringbone-
tooled surround. Right return: 1- and 2-light mullioned windows on first
floor.
