(east side), Sleights
17/57 Midge Hall

Said to have been The Red Lion Inn; now two dwellings. Dated 1819;
remodelled and extended later in C19; C20 alteration and further
extension. Herringbone-tooled sandstone with pantile roof. Central-
entrance plan with extensions at rear. 2-storey, 3-bay front flanked by
raked 1-storey bays. 4-panel door beneath overlight; (second entrance is
C20 half-glazed door in right return). All windows in front are 4-pane
sashes with painted stone sills. Tooled lintels to all openings. Main
roof hipped with end stacks rising from base. Flanking bays have coped
pent roofs with shaped kneelers. Inset datestone over door inscribed:
Interior. In the first floor Boom of the rear centre wing a second
datestone is visible, inscribed:
in original rear wall of main house.
