metres south east of
Cayley Becks Farmhouse
GV II
Barn converted later to cowhouse and loft. Late C18 with C20 extension.
Herringbone-tooled sandstone with ashlar quoins and dressings; pantile
roof. Breeze block extension. 1½-storey, 2-bay barn. Replacement doors
in quoined doorways on each side of extension, and square pitching window
above. Raised eaves band. Coped gables and shaped kneelers. Returns:
pitching window between ventilation slits. Gable ends finished with
carved volutes and remains of iron finials or weathervanes. Rear: repeats
front with three ventilation slits to loft. Included for group value.
C20 extension not of special interest.
