9/82 Breckon Howe boundary
stone between parishes of
barnby and Goathland
Boundary stone. Dated 1813. Gritstone. Roughly tapering monolith
approximately 1.3 metre high. South face inscribed:
at York
On 15 March 1813 an action was brought by the Lord of the Manor of
Sleights against the Lord of the Manor of Goathland to determine the
boundary, and thus the extent of sheep grazing rights, of the two
