5/26 Eastwood Manor


House. 1871. Rock-faced, squared and coursed rubble with freestone dressings
and copings, double Roman tile roofs and ashlar stacks. Free-form Gothic style.
South front of 2 storeys and attic, 8 windows. Left hand section of 2 bays
advanced, further projecting full height porch and set-back 5 bay right hand
section. Straight and ogee gables to advanced sections with gargoyle finials and
clustered crockets on kneelers and gable ends. Windows are 2 and 3-light
chamfered cross mullions with a continuous hoodmould and scattered relieving
arches of alternate red and grey sandstone. Trefoil openings under eaves on set-
back section. Porch with a segmental pointed-arched doorway with embattled
dripstone, leaf carving in the spandrels and fine figure stops holding shields.
Moulded door architrave with paterae frieze. 2 leaf glazed door with cusped
wooden tracery. Fine cast iron rainwater heads and downpipes, bracketted eaves
cornice, tall ashlar stacks. West front has large canted bay.
