ST 55 NE EAST HARPTREE COLEY ROAD (south side)

5/37 Gates and Piers at Upper Lodge, North
of Harptree Court

Early C19. Ashlar and cast iron. Piers are 2.5 metres high rectangular on
plan, fluted bases, with ashlar blocks laid alternately as 2 headers and
1 stretcher forming chamfered rustication. Projecting complexly moulded cornices
with ball finials. 2 leaf gates with fixed former pedestrian gates. Central
roundel frieze and arrowhead bars. Further quadrant garden fence with identical
bars set on limestone base.
