Farmhouse and outbuildings, 3 builds and heightening. Early and later C18. Older
part (ground floor of downhouse) coursed pecked sandstone in square blocks; later
parts herringbone-tooled sandstone. Pantiled roofs with stone ridge, copings and
kneelers, brick stacks on stone bases. Hearth-passage plan with rebuilding of main
house part. House and downhouse each 2 storeys 2 bays, the house (at left) wider.
2-panel passage door under wood lintel. Yorkshire sash at ground floor right;
3-light chamfered mullioned window above. House has small window in fire-window
position and 3-light chamfered stone-mullioned window to left of it; at far left
a C20 3-light small-paned casement. 2 Yorkshire sashes on first floor. 1½ storey
outbuilding at left has hit and miss window and small skylight above boarded door.
Lean-to outbuilding at right with loft door. Block kneelers; right end and ridge
stacks. Rear elevation shows development: 1-storey downhouse, then rebuilt main
house and downhouse heightened to same level; finally the whole house heightened,
with stepped eaves. Passage door under arched lintel; 3-light stone-mullioned
window at first floor left. The lean-to outbuilding has pigsty below, with
4 blocked feeding chutes, and small loft window above. Right outbuilding projects
slightly and has stable door and small opening to right, small far left window,
loft opening and skylight. Interior: C18 corniced firebeam in kitchen. Small brick
lean-to attached to outbuilding is not of special interest.
