Farmhouse and barn, mid-late C18, possibly with older core. Red handmade brick
in English garden wall bond, 4 and 1, with stone plinth and some dressings.
Pantiled roof with tiled ridge, stone copings and kneelers, brick stacks. L-plan,
house facing south and barn facing west. Hearth-passage plan to house. Main house
2 storeys, 2 windows; downhouse 2 storeys, lower, 1 wide bay and passage. C19
6-panel passage door. Small panel 3-light C20 casements, those on ground floor
under flat gauged brick arches, except for 3-light Yorkshire sash on first floor
of downhouse. Main house projects, with blocked fire window on inner left return.
Shaped kneelers; end chimneys. Right return and rear rendered, with L-shaped out-
house extension. Barn running north from left return: 2 storeys and basement,
4 bays. Two stable doors, in stone alternating-block surrounds, and 4 small
windows. Stone external stair to boarded left door near north end. House interior:
Opposed doors from through-passage, that into houseplace a plank door in chamfered
opening. Quarter-round moulded beams in old kitchen. Several plank cupboards with
L-hinges. Stairs behind passage behind houseplace; dairy behind parlour.
Subsidiary stairs up from kitchen. Stone extension to barn is not of special
interest.
